Worcester County, Maryland Horses At The Beach
The Trail Starts Here...

Worcester County Horse Trails

We invite you to explore Worcester County by traveling along its newest heritage trail. Ramble and roam along our historically rich coast and countryside, replete with beautiful scenery that was shaped by both its coastal waters and indigenous horses. Once a major maritime trading center, Worcester County’s economic history and development was significantly affected by its native horses, which aided in hauling goods to ports and fishing nets for tradesmen, while also helping in the rescue operations of ship wrecks along the treacherous coast.

Worcester County also holds bragging rights as the home of one of America’s most prestigious and beloved Thoroughbred horse farms, which was also where the wildly popular horse, Man O’War once trained. Today, horse lovers can meander along the beaches of Assateague State Park and National Seashore, where they will ride alongside the wild ponies that still inhabit the area. Whether you chose to explore by boat, kayak, foot, horseback or car, there are a host of stories and sights to discover along the Worcester County Horse Trails. Start exploring today.
