What have you dreamed about horses since you first read Misty of Chincoteague or saw the movie The Black Stallion? Whatever it is, you can probably make it happen at Holly Ridge Farm, not far from Ocean City.
Take lessons (English and Western), trail ride through cool woods over the 194-acres wildlife preserve, ride along the surf and beaches of Assateague Island, learn how to care for the horses, even have a horsey birthday party, or just get close enough to watch the animals perform and to touch their velvet noses.
The Holly Ridge stables are fresh and tidy and the grounds surrounding them, filled with native pines and cypress trees, are lovely to behold. There is even an indoor arena if the weather isn’t conducive to outdoor activity. Suitable for both adults and children, Holly Ridge is licensed by the State of Maryland, and both instructors and guides are experienced and knowledgeable.
While there is certainly an emphasis on having fun at Holly Ridge, safety is first and foremost, with carefully trained horses and up-to-date equipment. As if that’s not enough, Holly Ridge also offers farm tours, gardening and canning classes, cat classes, and chickens of varieties you’ve probably never seen. The goal at Holly Ridge is to give the visitor as full a farm experience as possible, with horses at its heart.
